ALASKALASKA GLASS

Marking the release of their excellent new album Still Life, ALASKALASKA have shared a sunset visual for another album highlight, 'GLASS'. Following the enthralling videos for 'Still Life' and 'TV Dinners', this comparatively stripped back clip sees vocalist, songwriter and producer Lucinda Duarte-Holman kitted out in full casual athleisure, doing what we hope she won't mind us refering to as a funny little half-walk, half-run along the beach, sporting shades as pink and blue pastel shades stretch across the sky. Presumably a further comment on the song's subject matter, we see Duarte-Holman enjoying life's simple pleasures as she explains: "Glass is about the unhealthy relationships some of us have with work. Do you live to work, or do you work to live? Do you feel like you have a choice? It feels like a lot of people are starting to re-asses their work/life balance after the effects of the last couple of years. Ultimately I think there needs to be a shift in work ethics in general. Bring in the 4-day working week and pay people properly for their time and energy!" Mirroring the tiring and relentless rigidity of the current working week, chugging guitars lock in with grounding bass synth and tight drum machine sounds, craving space and fluidity, that comes from sparse breakout interludes, which feel like a release. Watch, listen and check out the rest of Still Life ASAP. -Holly Mullineaux
